SATURDAY MORNING:   SET-UP AND CLEAN-UP

 

 

Services begin at 10 am:  arrive to set up BY 9:40 pm

 

Bring the following as your contribution to the meal:

·       2 challot (NOT SLICED)

·       simple (supermarket type OK) bunch of flowers for the buffet table (or other appropriate centerpiece decoration, such as children’s artwork if applicable)

 

 

SET-UP FOR SERVICES

 

1.  TORAH AND BIMAH

 

·       Unlock ark (using combo lock:  line up vertically the numbers X-X-X on both locks)

·       Roll reader’s desk (Bimah) into place in front of Ark, and cover it with blue and white tablecloth (stored underneath desk).

·       Unroll carpet (stored near Bimah) in front of reader’s desk.

·       Plug in Ner Tamid and turn it on.

 

2.      BOOKS

 

Place the following items on the small table by the door:

 

·       Siddurim

·       Chumashim

·       Brochures

·       benchers

·       transliteration sheets

·       tallitot

·       kippot

·       any current flyers (from the President)

 

2.      LUNCH PREPARATIONS (BEFORE SERVICES)

 

·       Tablecloths should be on tables:  if not, get more in kitchen (lower left cabinet)

·       All paper goods are stored in the kitchen in cupboards marked Movable Minyan (see diagram)

·       Set out the following items:

·       Plates (large and small), bowls, cups, utensils, napkins, serving utensils, kiddush cups (approximately 15 for wine, 10 for juice on separate large plates), wine and juice (check for open bottles in refrigerator:  use these first if still fresh)

 

3.     KIDDUSH AND MEAL (NEAR END OF SERVICES)

 

·       Pour kiddush (wine and juice) during announcements, before Adon Olam

·       Unwrap challot; cover with challah cover or napkins and place on buffet table

·       Set out double-handled handwashing cup, large plastic bowl and pitcher of water

 

4.      CLEAN-UP

 

·       Replace paper goods and utensils in CORRECT CUPBOARDS

·       Make note of supplies that are low and TELL DEBBIE (either that day, or by e-mail/phone soon after)

·       Wipe down tables;  change cloths if very messy

·       Return benchers, kippot, etc are replaced to the book cabinet

·       Sweep floor

·       Take out all trash (dumpster is behind kitchen:  turn left out of kitchen door.  NOTE:  MAKE SURE BOTH KITCHEN DOORS ARE LOCKED FROM THE INSIDE

·       Return all books, tallitot, etc to the book cabinet

·       Roll reader’s desk back into northwest corner of room; remove cover and store inside podium on shelf.

·       Roll up carpet: store near Bimah.

·       Make sure aliyot cards and yad are in Ark;  lock Ark

·      Turn off Ner Tamid and unplug.
